Schedule Details

1.Arusha to Tarangire National park

Breakfast then we depart to Tarangire National Park to arrive in time for check-in and lunch. After lunch we embark on an afternoon game drive. Herds of up to 300 elephants scratch the dry Tarangire river bed for underground streams, while migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland crowd the shrinking lagoons. It's the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem - a smorgasbord for predators – and the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as the stately fringe-eared Oryx and peculiar long-necked gerenuk are regularly observed. The swamps, tinged green year round, are the focus for 550 bird varieties, the most breeding species in one habitat anywhere in the world. On drier ground you may find the Kori bustard, the heaviest flying bird; the stocking-thighed ostrich, the world's largest bird; and small parties of ground hornbills blustering like turkeys. Other birds include the yellow-collared lovebird, drabber rufous-tailed weaver and the ashy starling – all endemic to the dry savannah of north-central Tanzania.

2.Ngorongoro crater.

After breakfast check-out and drive to Ngorongoro Crater, descend some 600 meters into the crater, which is home to an abundance of wildlife and a photogenic paradise, for a full day of game-viewing at the crater. Ngorongoro Crater, the largest intact caldera in the world teams with an abundance of wildlife. Permanently resident on the crater floor. Prides of lions, herds of Cape buffalo, impala, Thompsons gazelles, rhino, golden & black-backed jackal, zebra, cheetah, leopard and the spotted hyena. Unmatched for its natural variety & breath-taking beauty, there are few places on earth where such a tremendous diversity of landscapes exist inside a region this size. Apart from its wildlife riches, the crater is also of great archaeological importance, with the remains of some of mankind’s earliest ancestors discovered in the area, also a home to hundreds of bird species, refreshing in the small lakes in the crater floor. Enjoy your lunch at the crater and later ascend the crater rims and drive to your lodge for overnight stay.

3.Lake Manyara national park to Arusha.

Early breakfast, check-out and drive to Lake Manyara National park where we will enjoy a morning game drive in search of the tree climbing lions and other wildlife found in this small, scenic ornithological paradise. Contrasting with the intimacy of the forest is the grassy floodplain and its expansive views eastward, across the alkaline lake, to the jagged blue volcanic peaks that rise from the endless Maasai Steppes. Large buffalo, wildebeest and zebra herds congregate on these grassy plains, as do giraffes – some so dark in coloration that they appear to be black from a distance. Enjoy our packed lunch at a strategic location, and later in the afternoon drive to Arusha and proceed to Kilimanjaro International airport in time for your onward international flight.
